Coronation Street picks up next week with character left dead, icon leaving and secret revealed

There’s only drama brewing in Coronation Street next week with one character left for dead and another confessing a secret to his distraught partner.

Starting with one of those two stories and Gemma Winter-Brown realizes that her mother Bernie Winter is reporting her whereabouts and asks Dev Alahan to dig. Later, Dev confronts Bernie, who criticizes, admitting that she had another son, Zodiac – known as Zac for short – who was taken into care. Later adopted, he changed his name to Christopher Green and she is now determined to find him.

After giving chase, Bernie tells Dev that there is one more Christopher Green on her list and that she will visit him. But when she learns he died of cancer, Bernie kicks back the drink, fearing she’ll lose the chance to find her son.

Meanwhile, Steve McDonald reads an article about Weatherfield County’s plans to honor Tommy Orpington by commissioning a dissection of him. Steve meets Demi and proceeds to slag Tommy and when Demi asks why he hates him so much, Steve throws a tirade about Tracy’s affairs.

Steve shows Tim some pictures from Tracy’s social stories about her paragliding over the Med with Tommy apologizing to him for his friend. Later, when Tim reveals that Steve’s girlfriend, Demi, is an estate agent in Hale Barns, Sally is shocked and immediately lifts the friendship ban. She is delighted when Steve invites her and Tim to join them for dinner.

Also, A downcast Kevin Webster admits his sister Debbie that work has dried up at the garage. Later, when Max Turner shows Kevin and Abi the model of the new website and explains that if they want to go ahead it will cost £1000. Kevin refuses to pay for it. As Kevin later scans the Weathy County chat forum on his son Jack’s laptop, something catches his eye and he frowns. And, Paul Foreman has his last meal before his feeding tube is inserted.

Elsewhere, Dee-Dee Bailey takes a call from CPS letting her know they have some news regarding Lauren Bolton’s missing phone messages. Dee-Dee later tells Carla Connor and Nina Lucas about the messages that have come to light and after Nathan’s return and her new theory that he must be involved in the teen’s disappearance and suspected murder, Bethany overhears trembling mind.

She then sneaks her way into the solicitors and finds Lauren’s file on Dee-Dee’s desk. Later, Bethany questions PC Craig Tinker about Nathan’s alibi and when Craig reveals that Nathan was with his girlfriend and that she works at a nail bar in town, Bethany reveals that he was running a tanning salon when he did grooming her.

Meanwhile, Sarah Barlow confides in Gary Windass that she is worried about Bethany as she gives up on trying to convince Nathan of Lauren’s murder. As Daniel Osbourne and Bethany go out, they are surprised when they are confronted by Nathan, who scolds Bethany for harassing his girlfriend.

Then, in the Rovers, Sarah, Gary and Platt discuss Nathan and agree that something has to be done before he ruins Bethany’s life again. Soon, at the construction site, Nathan is confronted by a hooded figure approaching and knocks him over the head and falls unconscious.

Later, as Bethany wonders who Nathan’s attacker might be, Shona Platt asks David about the stain on his jeans and his story is uncertain. David assures Bethany and Sarah that he is innocent but Shona interrupts them by branding the tracking app on David’s phone that proves he was at the construction site when Nathan was attacked.

Also on the cobbles, Toyah Habeeb finds a forum for former members of the Altovalent Institute. She tries to show her sister Leanne Battersby a post she saw, implying that the Institute is not trusted, only to discover that it has been taken down for legal reasons.

Leanne is disdainful but calls Rowan who points out that it was written by her bitter old friend and there is no truth in her words. When Rowan reveals that he has been promoted to head of the North West Department and offers her a tour of the Institute, Leanne is thrilled.

Later, Leanne explains to Simon Barlow that she met a guy called Jared at the Institute who would be happy to help him set up his food delivery app and Toyah listens in. But when Simon reveals that Jared is willing to meet him and will need to borrow money, Leanne is delighted, and Toyah thinks it’s another scam.

Soon, Toyah studies Rowan’s page and copies a number into her phone. Toyah meets with Rowan’s ex, Una and explains how her sister entered the Institute and that she is concerned that she may be in danger.

Later, as Leanne leaves for the retreat, Toyah begs her to reconsider, but Leanne refuses. Simon is hurt to learn that she is gone without saying goodbye. After quitting his job, Simon proceeds to get drunk, before being thrown into Tim Metcalfe’s cabin and becoming an unpaid runner.
