When Victoria Beckham brought a healthy helping of humor to last year’s hit Netflix documentary, Beckham, young viewers were in for a treat. “Posh is funny?” they said.
Children, Posh was always funny. If anything, she’s the funniest Spice Girls, you’d never know it was on purpose. From her sharp bangs to her refusal to wear anything but heels (even in stilts during last Fashion Week, y’all), to her dry humor and terse comments, Victoria is and always has been on the joke.
To mark her 50th birthday, here are some of her best moments.
1. On proper fan behavior
In 2007, before the Spice Girls world tour in Vancouver, Victoria made it clear what kind of reaction she expects from her fans: “It was great at the airport,” she told an interviewer, “there were a lot of beautiful Japanese people. to bless us.”
2. His appearance Ali G
At several points in history, Posh has proven that she is in on the joke and there is no better example than VB versus Ali G. At one point he asks if she wants Brooklyn to grow up to be a footballer, like his father , or its singer, “like Mariah Carey?” Posh replies, “Well, I hope he grows up to be a footballer like his father and I want to grow up and be a singer like Mariah Carey.”
3. How much time do the Spice Girls spend together
The Spice Girls were getting a lot of silly and repetitive questions, and Posh was instrumental in prompting some of their answers. When asked about how much time they spend together, Mel C gushed about how they work together and lived together briefly, when older Victoria jumped in and joked: “And then when we were in the institute together we had a lot of time. work on our act.”
4. On appropriate footwear
Victoria Beckham’s claim to wearing heels has been around for a long time and has been well documented throughout history. In one interview, when Mel B admits that she and Emma Bunton switched to boots on stage but Victoria didn’t, Posh pointedly notes: “Look, I’m suffering for art.”
5. On David Beckham’s big billboards
If Victoria Beckham is good at one thing, it’s taking boring or inappropriate interview questions about her husband and turning them into gold. When asked about the David Emporio Armani campaign in 2008, she replied: “I haven’t seen it on this tour but I have seen it, I think it’s great, I think Marcus [Piggott, the photographer] he did a great job, I think it’s a great campaign and I’m proud to see his penalty about 25 feet high.”
6. She was an accidental double nominee at the Glamor Awards
When she accepted the Woman of the Decade Award in 2013, Victoria was greeted by a too-short microphone, which she raised to her mouth and said, “Oh I have to raise it, that doesn’t happen often.” The crowd goes wild and it takes her a moment to even realize what she’s done. “Oh my god I didn’t even mean that!” She said, before addressing her son in the audience, “I’m sorry Brooklyn, I’m sorry.”
7. *That* is an interview with Michael Parkinson
One of VB’s most famous interviews came in 2001, when Michael Parkinson grilled her and David and Victoria just came out firing. From her iconic comment on David’s private nickname (Golden Balls) to her self-effacing self-assessments (“I think they think I’m a bad cow when I go down Bond Street all the time — I’m not. nothing wrong with that”), the whole interview shows just how good Posh really is. It’s a masterclass in Posh’s quick wit and dry humor, including the moment when Parkinson asks David why he plucked his eyebrows and David replies that it’s a step, and Posh just says “It makes it more aerodynamic.”
8. When she advised Dáiví about singing the national anthem
It turns out David Beckham hated singing the national anthem back when he was England captain, but fear not – Victoria came to the rescue with some solid advice. “You take a leaf out of my book and me,” she joked in an interview with David at the time.
9. On the Queen’s wife
The Real Beckhams (2004)
A favorite documentary from VB’s oeuvre where Victoria marvels at the Queen’s stoicism when she has to chat with someone from the Inland Revenue and Buckingham Palace is seen to pale in comparison to the grandeur of Beckingham Palace. pic.twitter.com/OfGFIbP74c

In a clip from the 2004 documentary The ‘Réal’ Beckhams, Posh praises her recent meeting with the Queen. “She does her job at the end of the day and she’s still very polite and she made everyone there today feel special,” she says. “She talked to everyone. You know some guy got a medal for services to the inland revenue, I mean who the hell would want to talk to him? But she did!”
10. On her father’s choice of car
That was the white lie that was heard around the world. In the 2023 Beckham documentary, Victoria is commenting on her working-class status, when David interrupts her and says, “What car did your dad drive you to school in?” She protests, and then finally admits, “Okay, in the 80s, my dad had a Rolls Royce.” “Thank you,” David says before closing the door and walking away.
Pure Posh and Becks comedy gold.
