Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are edging closer to their epic November showdown in the boxing ring.

The pair were originally due to face off in July, but Tyson, 58, was forced to pull out after suffering a medical scare on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles related to a flare-up of an ulcer that left him unable to fight. he was able to train.

The bout was quickly rescheduled and on November 15 both fighters’ records will be on the line in an officially sanctioned professional boxing contest.

Tyson remains the youngest fighter to become world heavyweight champion, a feat he achieved at the age of 20 in 1986 when he stopped Trevor Berbick in the second round, and went on to claim the undisputed crown in great career.

Almost two decades on from the last time ‘Iron Mike’ entered the ring in a professional bout, his victory over Kevin McBride in 2005, the heavyweight returns in an event that will attract attention from the world of sports and beyond.

It’s been four years since he appeared for an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr, so it was a surprise when it was announced that Tyson would be fighting Paul at the 80,000 capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Few predicted this bout when Paul knocked out former basketball player Nate Robinson on the main card of the Tyson showdown with Jones. The former YouTube star is now 10-1 as a pro, with that win coming against Tommy Fury and the wins largely over lesser-known former MMA stars and boxers.

Paul’s company Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) will promote the bout with Tyson, and this is the latest step in a boxing journey in which he continues to claim a world title.

Paul recently said: “A lot of people are thinking ‘Jake, why are you doing this? Even if you hit it, they’ll say it’s old’. But for me, Mike Tyson wanted to fight me.

“That’s an honor. He’s one of the most famous boxers in the world who’s ever done it. It’s going to be an honor and a dream to go in there with someone of his caliber. It’s going to be a show on Netflix.”

UFC legend Henry Cejudo is close friends with Tyson, and the two have previously hosted a podcast, and previously suggested the 57-year-old is set to take home around $20 million to fight Paul.

“I mean, you know how much I respect you, Uncle Mike… but obviously it takes two to tango,” Cejudo said. “I feel like Mike will probably have a very good payday. He’s probably going to hit his stride, making close to $20m and he’s about to turn 58. Literally, Jake is 27 and Mike is 57.

“I don’t like him but I was with Mike when he was getting ready for his Roy Jones Jr fight. This guy is disciplined, he gets moody when he’s in fight camp and he doesn’t smoke either. He runs every day at 5 o’clock in the morning If there’s anyone really badass who could take this guy out, it’s Mike.”

It’s unclear how much Paul will make, but he claimed to have earned $30m when he lost to Tommy Fury last year.
