If you’re looking for an upgrade to your entertainment setup without breaking the bank, Amazon Canada’s Spring Sale has tons of it technical markets worth checking out. In my opinion, the highlight of the sale is the Amazon Fire TV Omni Series 65-inch smart TVavailable now for $160 off.
This TV is an entertainment hub, offering a wide selection of streaming services such as Netflix, Disney + and Prime Video. With its easy-to-use interface and impressive features, the Amazon Fire TV stands as a top choice for a budget TV.
But is it suitable for your home? I tried it for myself to find out – this is how it is using this TV on a daily basis.

The television offers a range of features that meet modern entertainment needs.

📺 Picture quality
Movies look great with 4K, Dolby Vision (enhanced picture quality) and other features that improve picture quality. You get vibrant colours, solid contrast and the 4K is crisp. For HDR fans, the Amazon Fire TV may fall short when it comes to peak brightness and color range. However, for the price point, I find the picture quality perfect, especially if you’re watching something in 4K.

🔆 Brightness and glare
This TV performs well in a bright room. Many TVs struggle with glare, but this one maintains clear visibility, which is a plus. I have three huge windows right next to it, and I can watch TV without any problem during the day.
🏠 Smart home & techno
The Alexa hands-free feature is really handy. Controlling your TV with voice commands is more useful than you might think, from changing channels to playing the next episode of your favorite show – especially if you like to turn the TV on while you work around the house. In addition, the focus on privacy, with the ability to disconnect the microphone, is positive.
If you’re not into high-tech, the classic remote has simplified buttons to get you to your favorite apps, like Netflix, faster. The TV also has four HDMI ports, which is great if you want to plug in Google Chrome, an XBox, a PC or another console.
🕹️ Response time
If you are into sports or gaming, this may not be the best choice. The response time can detract from fast-paced scenes, and the 60Hz refresh rate doesn’t compete with some other TVs that offer smoother frame rates. However, for casual TV viewing and cozy movie nights, there’s no lag when it comes to selecting, pausing or rewinding content.
🎨 Design
I love how slim the TV is for its price point. It is thin from the side and does not stick much from the wall. I used the PERLESMITH Full Motion TV Wall Mount (now also on sale on Amazon), and it was perfectly compatible with the 65″ Amazon Fire TV.
When you watch TV, you only see the picture (the frame is about three millimeters), giving you the perfect movie experience. If you prefer to stand the TV, it comes with two slim black gunmetal legs that won’t take up too much space on your media unit.
🍿 Content
With a boatload of movies and shows ready to stream, you won’t be running out of content anytime soon. The TV comes with pre-installed apps for Netflix, Prime Video, Disney +, Crave and more. It’s also constantly suggesting what to watch next based on what you like – a big win if you’re into Principal signatorybut if you’re not, the emphasis on Amazon Prime content may be overwhelming.
📢 Advertisements
Although the interface is very user-friendly and well thought out, it is full of ads for Prime Video content. It’s something to consider if you prefer a more streamlined and less commercial-heavy user experience.
💬 What other reviewers say
More than 3,400 buyers reviewed Amazon TV, rating it 4.4 stars. One shopper wrote “works great, looks great,” adding that they have “no complaints about the TV, setup was great, picture looks great, price was perfect.” Another said the “build quality is great for the price, even if it’s mostly plastic, it doesn’t feel cheap.”
One said that “the screen is too reflective,” and the TV had trouble being fully compatible with its LG sound bar. “I liked the TV enough that I’m happy to go without a sound bar,” they said, however. The buyer added that the ads, while not “super intrusive,” can be annoying. “If you don’t have Prime, I imagine it would be annoying because of how hard it is to push,” they wrote.
🔥 Would I buy it again?
The Amazon Fire TV 65″ Omni Series is a great choice for an affordable flat screen TV with smart features. Especially now that it’s on sale for $840 during Amazon’s Big Spring Sale, it is worth buying. Users deeply integrated with Alexa and Amazon Prime love the smart features and wide selection of content. It punches above its weight compared to my previous TV at the same price point.
