The basic principle of the Space Nation The franchise is that humanity fled Earth after an alien attack and now resides within the Telikos Cluster, which Emmerich explains over email as “a group of stars far, far out in space…it’s full of ancient structures from an ancestral race conceal secrets waiting to be revealed, inhabited planets ripe for human colonization, and persistent evidence of regional conflict.”

“We knew they were coming,” a voice in the trailer intones as an epic space battle wages. “We knew we could not win this fight. However, those of us who could fought, so that most of humanity could evacuate the Earth. In the end, time could only be bought .”

“We are not talking about specific characters yet,” Emmerich clarifies, “but the players themselves will be central to the narrative. They will join the Parousians, the descendants of the human race, working to build a new home in the far future. Galaxy by creating alliances and fending off threats.”

There are four primary factions within it Space Nation Online, which is powered by the Unity engine and features PvE (player vs environment) and PvP (player vs player). The first is the Brotherhood of the Phoenix, which, Emmerich says, “made up of the remnants of the military that survived the alien attack on Earth. They have established bases and defenses in Telikos, and are preparing to defend on the human settlements from any more alien attacks.”

The second is the Oikos Office of Research Affairs, the brains behind the technology that allows humans to thrive so far from Earth. “Although their work is very important to the survival of the human race, they are not without controversy,” notes Emmerich. “Their collaboration and information sharing with several alien races has gotten them into trouble before, and one of these races in particular is not fully trusted by the other factions.”

The third is the Shepards, which is mostly made up of defectors and outcasts from the other factions. They are recommending humanity to move on from Telikos, in case the aliens who attacked Earth are still searching for them and may attack again.

The fourth faction is the Ghosts Interstellar, which is “just a bunch of pirates,” says Emmerich. “But a closer look may show that there is more to them than meets the eye.”

First announced last June, Emmerich founded Space Nation Inc. by Jerome Wu, who previously worked for Blizzard on World of Warcraft; Tony Tang, who is from Digital Extremes where he worked Warframe; and Hollywood producer Marco Weber (Thirteenth Floor, Igby goes down). This group has previously expressed its mission to leverage blockchain technologies to support a self-sustaining audience-driven economy. Space Nation Onlineand using LLM (large language model) AI to improve NPC-led missions.

“I’ve always been very interested in the experiences that games can deliver, and that interest has grown over the last few years as I’ve watched the medium evolve to the point where it can deliver storytelling on par with Hollywood. ,” says Emmerich. “Look at how the same technology that brings the world of modern games to life is also pushing the visuals into big productions! As someone who has always been very interested in the use of technology to attract audiences, I am very excited by the audience. the idea of creating connections with audiences in a cross-media environment.”

In terms of bigger plans for the Space Nation franchise, Emmerich says the animated shorts will be shared on social media and used to increase the audience’s understanding of the Space Nation globe “Some will stick to the big picture of life in the Telikos Cluster, giving a broad view of factional and interspecies relations, emerging conflicts, and the like,” he explains. “Other shorts will touch on specific moments from the game’s evolving story. We’re currently experimenting with generational AI capabilities to figure out how to enhance those more reactive stories, as our community takes an active role in shaping the course. the plot of the MMO.”

As for the TV show, Emmerich says he’ll have more to share later.

Space Nation Online it will launch in closed beta on PC next April 1st before a soft launch on PC later this summer. The global launch is planned for PC and mobile this fall.
