Yes, Cap Rocat has all the five-star frills you’d expect for this price point (two pools, a spa, great restaurants and on-site service) but it’s its unique and unique situation that sets it apart from other properties. . It is truly secluded, perched on the edge of a nature reserve on its own private peninsula with panoramic views of the Bay of Palma (not another hotel in sight). Internationally renowned local architect Antonio Obrador has transformed this rambling military fort, which looks desolate and inaccessible, into a comfortable and chic living space. With its wide labyrinthine subterranean paths, large stone bridge and huge crenelated gates it almost looks like a James Bond film set, making it one of the design-forward properties of the island.

No doubt any hotel under the impressive umbrella of Belmond will deliver a five-star holiday, but this has to be one of the best. The building, which was originally two restored rustic properties from the 16th century, has grown over the years and is now a delightful – sometimes challenging – labyrinth of stone paths and steps cut through 35 acres of lush mature gardens of cypresses and trees. olive to a. peaceful pool zone. Despite its grandeur and glitz, this is a place whose atmosphere is homely, welcoming and warm. It is no wonder that his devotees return again and again; It’s also a very good thing to bring along children as they bend over backwards to accommodate families.

A late evening arrival at this hotel is a good idea; the evening sunlight takes on an ethereal quality and the entire building (formerly a 12th century monastery) is bathed in golden light, the honeyed walls glowing against the vivid green of the hills. Inside it is very modern and food is a huge part of the five star experience here. For casual dining, there’s UBistró with fresh light lunch options and Ubar, an atmospheric indoor space serving tapas and cocktails. Restaurant 3/65 offers gastronomic cuisine on the back terrace with views of the mountains. It is especially magical at night, when soft pools of candlelight gather around elegant tables. The crispy-skinned tenderloin pork with carrot, star anise and cinnamon is a standout dish.

A bit of a rarity in family-flooded Majorca, this boutique hotel is adults-only so ideal for a mini-moon or romantic break for two (or for one, they get a few solo travelers here too ). The 28 individually designed bedrooms include 12 rooms, all spread over three ancient country houses: Can Simoneta, a 19th-century refuge for sick priests; Can Nofre, where the bar and restaurant are located; and the recently restored Beach House, which is close to the sea. In the hotel’s gardens there is a wellness center set in the trees, as well as steam log cabins and a sauna. Apart from its own private access to Canyamel beach, where Café Arenal is located, a winding stone staircase carved into the cliff leads to a secluded cove with a natural rock pool tub, exclusive to hotel guests.

When it opened back in 2015, Sant Francesc was quickly touted as one of the best and most affordable hotels to stay in Palma’s old town. It’s definitely upmarket, but for a really stylish city hotel it manages to keep a fair price point, which is a huge bonus. Tasteful and understated, the ground floor’s dark and gray slate interior is illuminated by natural light from the lobby and internal patio. Retaining many original features including frescoes and moldings, the handsome property is characterized by large windows, arched doors, and a wealth of natural materials such as stone and wood, but the cherry on top has to be the rooftop pool when it can be left as a whole. an evening slipping by without a single plan being made.

There’s something delightfully grown-up about this hotel, it’s the kind of place that doesn’t want to be cool or shabby, it’s completely unashamed; the idea of Miguel Conde and his architect wife, Cristina Martí. Contemporary furniture and natural materials such as marble, stone and wood are offset by interesting fabrics, gilded mirrors and subtle lighting that give the place a rich feel. Guests are warmly welcomed by the experienced reception staff in the discreet lobby, and a luxury concierge service is provided prior to arrival, catering to every client’s needs. The hotel has a massage and beauty treatment room on the third floor, and a plunge pool and solarium on the roof terrace which offers stunning views of the cathedral and the bay of Palma.

At Can Bordoy, the five-star treatment is there from the start: guests are greeted like long-lost friends, offered a welcome drink in the cosy, ivy-covered lounge and kick back as their luggage is whisked upstairs to be unpacked at. butler The hotel itself is a delightful mix of old and new, with ultra-modern and unusual lighting brushing shoulders with gothic pillars, gilded baroque mirrors, dramatic furnishings and comfortable sofas. In fact the feeling of a relaxed and comfortable English country house, the pièce de résistance matures, a walled garden for residents only – the largest in Palma – including a heated pool, whirlpool and solarium, protected by foliage. There is also a well-equipped spa offering exclusive products and beauty treatments from Swiss Perfection.

This is a slow retreat with glorious gardens sitting quietly amongst thickly scented olive trees with a glass of Rioja firmly on the agenda. Owners Christine and Klaus-Michael Kühne have left no stone unturned at this rural hideaway; all the hotel rooms are spacious (it is a former castle after all) and have beautiful terraces, balconies or patios but the attention to detail is truly gracious: a handwritten welcome note, a bottle of cava, fruit, and a box of ensaimada – a local pastries – available in each room, as well as beach towels. Although it is snuggled into the sleepy Spanish countryside, it is only 20 minutes by taxi to the center of Palma so a good choice if you are looking for a city injection to break up a fly-and-flop holiday.

The adults-only El Llorenç occupies a delightfully quiet place in front of a leafy park in the atmospheric historic quarter of Calatrava in Palma, with its narrow, cobbled streets, shops, galleries and artisans’ studios. Swedish designer Magnus Ehrland has created a beautiful space with quirky little touches adding to the character; for example the Balinese beds on either side of the attractive infinity pool, and large emerald raffia-fringed parasols that shimmer like ostrich feathers in the sun. A real highlight is the serene basement wellness zone that offers a variety of massages and beauty treatments, and exclusive products by Natura Bissé. The green-tiled swimming pool, dominated by giant golden pendant lights, is a real delight if the weather turns to the rooftop pool (or for a winter city break).

It’s a difficult concept to engineer into a hotel, that holy grail of being low-key, but also high-luxe at the same time and Can Ferrereta manages it to a tee. The 32 well-proportioned suites and rooms are bathed in relaxing tones of biscuit, beige and ivory and offer every imaginable comfort but nothing too precious or too much effort about it. Its perfection in nature is easy, which is what makes it one of the best five star hotels in Majorca. The staff are friendly and welcoming and go the extra mile whether offering to park a car, get a newspaper or help with wine tasting or bike hire. But it’s not just inside, the atmosphere is relaxed outside and visitors love to explore the quiet hip scene of Santanyi with its sandstone architecture and cobbled streets.
