Mykonos comes into its own at night. From the prime locations from which to watch the deep orange and purple sunsets, to the number of sophisticated cocktail bars, and the choice of dance clubs to rule the wee hours, it’s as if the island was made with for a party.
Every night is a good night to go out (it doesn’t just decide because it’s, say, Tuesday) and there’s no such thing as a quiet pub, so if you can’t beat them, join us . Most bars are open every day during the season, which generally runs from mid-April to the end of October. Contact bars directly for exact times, especially when visiting outside of peak season.

Mykonos Town
BAO’s
As one of the various bars on the coast in the most attractive quarter of Mykonos, Little Venice, BAO’s advantage is an unobstructed view across the sea. With the famous windmills on the left, and the outline of houses built out into the water on stilts, it’s a great place for a sun owner. The inventive mandarin list covers most of the classics, but you should also try one of their signatures, such as The Mandarin, with fresh mandarin juice, gin and lime. The interior is chic, with whitewashed walls and ceilings contrasting with light blue wooden beams, low-hanging rattan lampshades and curved window-linings. But you want to be on board outside; they are very popular, so get here early. Music is of a generic Euro-dance type, although people get up and dance as the evening goes on (and it gets louder).

Galleraki
Located right across the sea from BAO’s, Galleraki’s main selling point is the terrace on the first floor, so you double your chances of getting a good view. It is less decorated, with blue and white wooden chairs and tables, painted white, but because it is more in a corner, it avoids the worst of the winds that blow from the sea. They have made a wide range of cocktails with fresh fruit – try the irresistibly sweet Peach Daquiri – as well as more classic cocktails and Champagne, as well as alcoholic coffees. The music here tends towards chilling, at least at the beginning of the evening.

Lola
A personal box, a jewel of a bar tucked away down a small side street in Chora (Mykonos Town). The décor is mostly pink and purple, with a fancy, flamboyant crowd to match. Of course the signature Margarita slushy, salt-immed, strawberry follows the color theme; lots of them and you’ll be dancing to pumping house music with the best of them. But there are plenty of tables hidden in corners to create a romantic atmosphere too, if that’s what you’re looking for. Needless to say, it is one of Mykonos’ many LGBT+ friendly establishments, but it attracts a mixed clientele.

Scandinavian bar
Mykonos Institute. This bar, spilling out over a small square near the Old Port, has been attracting dance-loving drinkers since the 1970s. It consists of two intimate bar areas – although most people try to secure a table outside, preferring to people watch – and a ‘disco’ reached up steps, with a DJ manning the decks for crowd-pleasers. play from the. like Rihanna and Taylor Swift. The cocktail list offers the usual suspects, from Aperol Spritz to Martinis, and they do a range of luridly titled shots. The up-for-it environment appeals to all ages, and when it comes to dressing up, well, anything goes…

Jackie O’
Jackie O’ (the sister venue to the popular beach club Super Paradise), is located right on the water front around the corner from Seanport. It’s one of the best gay bars and clubs in town, but it draws a mixed crowd. Inside, it looks – stylishly – carved out of a cave, with a curved whitewashed stone bar and arched seating. There is a small area upstairs, too. Black and white photographs of his name, Jackie Onassis, are scattered around the world, but all eyes turn to the front when the dance music comes on, to signal the entrance of the drag night act. The bar menu ranges from local beers to classic cocktails.

Queen of Mykonos
Billed as a ‘champagne and cocktail bar’, this appeals to the masses; fittingly since it’s on a street – Enoplon Dynameon – lined with incredibly expensive jewelers and designer shops. Perrier Jouet (ideally by the magnum) is the order of the day, but you can also splurge on Veuve, Dom Pérignon, Bollinger and Moët, and there are plenty of cocktails to choose from. If you own a yacht – or want people to think you do – this is the place for you. Most people stay outside (easier to see and be seen), perched on stools or Louis Ghost chairs.

Ornate
Bar Buddha
A stylish, sophisticated option in the quieter, more family-oriented Ornos – and part of the exclusive Santa Marina resort, located across the beach – this is more about having quality Mediterranean and Asian fusion food together with excellent food. drinks or partying into the wee hours; but, thanks to occasional live DJ sets, you can do that too. The vibe is chilled, the décor a mix of modern cane furniture, brightly colored cushions and orchids in huge vases. Wash down sushi, black cod with miso or Wagyu beef with a Japanese Old Fashioned (made with Japanese whiskey and Umeshu) or White Princess (gin, lemon-infused juice and passion fruit, topped with vanilla foam).

Aparanto Galazio
Situated towards one end of the sweeping curve of Ornos beach, this is a relaxed, easy place to come for a few drinks. You can sit at a table on the sand, or in the airy interior, a donation to the natural aesthetic of the island – all bamboo roofs, simple, white-painted furniture, lighting in glass, jam-jar-like shades, and, on of course. , view out to sea. The cocktail list is more inventive than most – how about a Smoked Daiquiri with mezcal, rum and lime, or the Greek Passion, with the ubiquitous mastiha liqueur, basil, jasmine and cucumber?
