Scotland

15 Blair Kinghorn He was in split form for Toulouse and a return to Scottish colors after injury has been eagerly awaited. Very strong in defense. 7

14 Kyle Steyn Another who lost the defeat to France, there was no sight of him returning after the birth of his daughter but he played a key defensive role. 6

13 Huw Jones He played a big role in Van der Merwe’s first try and was always a threat with the ball in hand. Excellent work this afternoon. 6

12 Sione Tuipulotu The partnership with Jones is a huge factor in Scotland’s progress. But unfortunately he gave up in the first minute of the second half. 6

11 Duhan van der Merwe England’s nemesis at Twickenham last year and it was again with a stunning hat-trick. A late yellow card couldn’t spoil his night. 9

10 Finn Russell (co-captain) Always going to be a big influence. He hasn’t used that whole box of tricks but he’s not lacking in kicks in this tournament. 7

9 Ben White Furbank’s effort was at fault but the France-based scrum-half did well to pull England back. 6

1 Pierre Schoeman Raw power at scrum time against the experienced Dan Cole was key and the South African made some key saves. 7

2 George Turner Ouker was very dynamic and his throwing in was an important factor in a strong line. Number 2 looks the best in the competition. 7

3 Zander Fagerson An early departure for a head injury assessment put the top of the Scottish scrum but he returned to add solidity to the set-piece. 7

4 Grant Gilchrist His red scrum cap was everywhere. Made some important moves. Another good display in the line out and resume. 6

5 Scott Cummings Glasgow green were excellent in the lineout, a position that was a strength for both sides. Good, powerful 80 minutes. 6

6 Jamie Ritchie A miss from the sideline against France raised a few eyebrows and if there was a point to be made he made it with a stunning comeback. 6

7 Rory Darge (joint leader) He was always going to be a threat at the breakdown. He brings real energy to the Scottish backline. 6

8 Jack Dempsey Another key man at the breakdown. He is an unshowy player but he covered every blade of grass at Murrayfield. 6

Subs: Ewan Ashman (for Turner, 53min) 5; Alec Hepburn (Shoeman, 61) 5; Elliot Millar-Mills (Fagerson, 61) 6; Sam Skinner (Gilchrist, 67) 5; Andy Christie (Ritchie, 53) 5; George Horne (White, 62) 5; Ben Healy (Redpath, 72 blood replacement) 5; Cameron Redpath (Tuipulotu, 41) 7

England

15 George Furbank chose to give England more of an attack. It took five minutes to secure his place but the dream did not continue. 6

14 Tommy Freeman He struggled to impose himself on the game but was hungry for possession for most of it. Solid in defense. 6

13 Henry Slade A key man in England’s defensive blitz but has barely made any carries in the competition and is little attacking threat. 5

12 Ollie Lawrence England needed the center to thunder across the gain but was unable to convert his club form to the international stage. Will improve. 5

11 Elliot Daly He is not the only England full-back struggling for his best form. A switch to outside center could be a solution against Ireland. 6

10 George Ford Another excellent display. England’s goalkeeper pulled back into the game. Good defensively and not overshadowed by Russell. 7

9 Danny Care In his 99th cap, the striker conceded his first Six Nations start for six years but substitute Ben Spencer added zip. 6

1 Ellis Genge He was selected for his dynamism in the loose power rather than scrummaging but he did not concede to Zander Fagerson in the scrum. 6

2 Jamie George (captain) Playing under the weight of grief after the death of his mother, the captain led from the front on a difficult evening for his side. 7

3 Dan Cole Cole’s scrum-drive worked in the first half and the 36-year-old also made some key tackles. Fully justified to choose. 6

4 Maro Itoje He made some powerful carries and was impressive in the line-out but could not replicate his form from the game against Wales. 6

5 Ollie Chessum He was as heroic as ever but he gradually disappeared from the game. He may come under pressure to get a starting place against Ireland. 5

6 Roots of Ethan He gives goal after goal but as the game went on he disappeared and George Martin should start against Ireland. 5

7 Sam Underhill The best striker in England. Great at the break with one England player improving as the tournament goes on. 8

8 Ben Earl Man of the match against Wales and was again dynamic in the back row. Made some vital and defensive strong carries. 7
