Release date, maps, progression, and rewards

Call of Duty Mobile’s battle royale mode is the best thing about it, so it’s no surprise that it’s being expanded into a dedicated game.

Next month, you’ll be able to battle 120 players in a final battle for supremacy in Call of Duty Warzone Mobile.

As the name suggests, the upcoming game aims to bring the amazing Warzone game from PC and consoles to phones and tablets. Best of all, it’s completely free to download.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new game, including when you’ll be able to play it.

Is Call of Duty Warzone Mobile running a campaign?

Think of Call of Duty Warzone Mobile as a slimmed down version of the main Warzone experience. While Battle Royale on Call of Duty Mobile offered 100-player skirmishes, here you’ll find 120 players on larger maps – bringing you closer to the action on PC and consoles, albeit with downgraded graphics.

There’s also a variety of multiplayer modes for those looking for close quarter action, along with familiar features like the Gulag, contracts and merchant stations. However, a campaign mode was never part of Warzone, so don’t expect it to come to mobile either.

Call of Duty Warzone Mobile release date

It’s been a long time coming, but Activision has finally revealed the highly anticipated game’s release date.

Call of Duty Warzone Mobile will land on March 21st in the UK and worldwide.

The announcement comes after a long preview period where a few countries were lucky enough to test it in person. A reduced version of the game was offered in Australia, Chile and parts of Scandinavia from late 2022 onwards. After sitting out the limited release, Brits will finally be able to jump into the game next month.

The game will be available on iPhone, iPad and Android devices through the iOS App Store and Google Play Store, respectively.

According to its app store listings, the game’s file size is a relatively light 3.91 GB, which is small compared to the huge size of CoD console and PC updates.

The game only works on iOS 16 and above and Android 10 and above, although the age rating is 17 and above – this is not Fortnite.

Maps for call of duty warzone free,

At launch, Call of Duty Warzone Mobile will feature two large-scale maps in the form of Verdansk and Rebirth Island, along with a handful of multiplayer modes.

Fans will be familiar with the former as it was the main location for the battle royale mode on the original Call of Duty Warzone before it was scrapped. Inspired by the cities of Eastern Europe, Verdansk is a sprawling map with various zones, including central urban areas, suburbs and wide open parks, industrial complexes, and military installations. This will be the map of choice for those looking for a bigger shootout, with support for up to 120 simultaneous players.

Also returning from the original Warzone, the Alcatraz-style Rebirth Island is a more condensed, action-packed map linked to the team-based Resurrection Mode. Here, up to 48 players will make it, hoping that at least one of their squad mates will stay alive long enough for others to rewrite.

Of course, battle royale survival tactics aren’t for everyone, so Activision is also offering several maps and multiplayer modes with short burst rounds. These include Shipping, House Shoot and Scaffolding, where you’ll be able to play Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed and Search & Destroy, including hardcore versions.

Does it mean transition?

One of the big themes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) and Warzone 2 was continuity, not only in its storyline but also for equipment. Aside from rebuilding your Arsenal collection and items from scratch, you were able to carry over almost everything you unlocked in Modern Warfare 2.

Warzone Mobile is no different. Once you’re logged in with your Acivision ID, most of the content you’ve saved on MW3 and Warzone will be transferred over and easily accessible. The same goes for player and weapon XP you earn, which will apply to mobile, PC and consoles, and stack across platforms. Apart from a few exclusives, most of the shared bundles you’ve bought before will be waiting for you on mobile. The new game will also feature shared battle pass progress and a shared friends list.

Does it support controllers?

One of the biggest gripes some players had with Call of Duty Mobile at launch was the lack of controller support. To Activision’s credit, it quickly made popular plots available wirelessly in just a few months.

Avoiding the same mistake, this time Call of Duty Warzone will work with a range of controllers from the start. Activision even promises a “reasonable amount of customization,” though it’s unclear exactly what that means. Of course, touchscreen controls will also be available.
