BBC Strictly Come Dancing stars Kevin Clifton and Stacey Dooley were immediately heartbroken when they saw their new home, prompting their move. The couple, who found love on the dance floor during the sixteenth series of the BBC show and subsequently won the Glitterball trophy, have been an item since 2019 and became parents last year to their daughter Minnie.
Kevin revealed that 2023 brought significant changes to their family, including relocating to Liverpool to be closer to mum Stacey. He told how their quick decision to move up north so Minnie could grow up close to her grandmother had led Stacey to casually search for houses online.
After visiting a property in Merseyside, they knew it was meant to be their new home. Kevin told the Liverpool Echo: “Stacey loves looking at houses on the internet. Her favorite thing to do is look at interiors and things.”

“She happened to see something she liked and thought ‘oh it’s not too far from my mum’. We went and she looked and it was the second she walked in like ‘I love it and I can to really see us living here “It happened quickly and we love it.”
He also expressed that he was very happy with the prospect of their daughter being raised in Liverpool. Kevin Clifton, who currently stars in the hit musical ‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’, is set to delight audiences at the Liverpool Empire starting today, April 22.
Kevin, 41, expressed his excitement at playing for what he expects to be an enthusiastic local crowd. He said: “In Liverpool, the crowd want to go and have a good time. Liverpool are one of those audiences that have a big laugh as soon as the lights go down, because they’re already there to enjoy themselves. remove it.”
“It’s a lively and energetic show and the audience enjoy themselves anyway so I think when we come to Liverpool, we’re going to blow the roof off. That’s why I think this show is going to be special. the first few weeks [of the tour] but she is waiting to come to Liverpool, bring some friends with her and her mother’s side of the family.”
While Kevin is busy touring with the show, his partner Stacey Dooley is away filming a documentary in America, which has limited their time to settle into their new home. Despite this, Kevin has been warmly welcomed by Liverpudlians, which contrasted with his experience in London.
He shared: “It sounds like I’m pandering but I’m being honest. It’s just the people. When you get Uber in London, they’re already annoyed that they’re going to drive you.”
“[In Liverpool] you get into an Uber and you’re just chatting with the driver the whole way. I love it. Everyone chats to you in a normal friendly way which I didn’t experience in London. We haven’t spent enough time here yet and we need suggestions.”
Kevin had planned to take a break from work after his Strictly Ballroom tour last year, but he couldn’t resist the chance to be part of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. He said: “It’s one of those shows that means so much to so many people.”
“There are shows that last forever like Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables and Wicked – but it’s very rare that a new work comes along and becomes one of the big guns and an instant classic. It ticks all the boxes with great music, characters and dancing. It’s funny and has such a great message about inclusion, acceptance, family and friendship.”
“There’s no weak link in the show. It’s great to be a part of a show like that.”
Kevin was an integral part of the Strictly cast from 2013 – 2019 before stepping down to focus on his career in theater after achieving everything he could on the show. The dancer is very appreciative of the opportunities that Strictly has presented him and said that he would only consider coming back if there was something new on the table.
He went on to say: “All I have left is a same-sex partnership and they were about to do that. They were definitely thinking about going ahead but he said ‘No way. guarantee us right now it would be you.”
He expressed his passion for acting and singing, and while he doesn’t see himself returning to the show at the moment, he hasn’t ruled out the possibility, suggesting he could join as a judge In the future.
Kevin, now, is focusing on balancing his professional activities with his father as he looks forward to his new life in Liverpool. He revealed: “Stacey’s working on all different things and I’ve got my theater stuff so we’re trying to balance it as best we can while looking after Minnie, who’s got her boyfriend now, which feel ridiculous.”
Although Kevin and Stacey’s love story inspired them on the dance floor, he doesn’t want his daughter to walk the same path. However, Kevin is already on the losing end of this hope, as Minnie seems to take a deep interest in the Strictly music whenever it airs on TV and laughs at the worst possible fears emerged after their move to Liverpool.
In a light stretch, he noted: “It’s funny because I was because I don’t want her to be a ballroom dancer and go through everything like I did. wait’ and I was like that for God’s sake.”
Kevin, a keen Scunthorpe United supporter, admitted that Stacey’s loyalty to Liverpool could have an effect on their daughter, laughing as he said: “My instinct is that she’s not going to be a Scunny fan but I’m going to to strive. She already has the upper hand. Kit Liverpool and I have a feeling that will happen.”
“But her great-grandfather is an Everton fan so it’s a big fight in the family who will claim Minnie’s football team.” The hit musical Everybody is Talking about Jamie will be taking to the stage at the Liverpool Empire from 22 – 27 April.
