Is the Elemis Advent Calendar packed with luxury skincare worth the £199 splurge?

September is prime time for beauty calendar launches, and the latest release is the Elemis Skincare Ultimate Advent Calendar. Packed with products worth up to £537, it retails for £199 and is filled with a range of best-selling skincare and bodycare products that are the perfect luxurious self-care item for anyone. followers of Elemis.

A popular choice every year, for 2024 there are 25 luxurious treats with a saving of £338, making it a great opportunity to stock up on some of your Elemis favorites at a fraction of the cost.

As a beauty journalist, I’ve tested many beauty adventure calendars over the years, and as an Elemis fan I was keen to get my hands on it to see if it was worth spending nearly £200 to start the countdown to Christmas.

If you’re an Elemis fan, this luxurious calendar is filled with popular bestsellers designed to plump, illuminate and deeply hydrate your skin.

Advantages

  • Many wholesalers are included
  • A nice mix of skin care and body care
  • Good value for money
Cons

  • Lots of product repetition
  • Fewer full size products than expected

I was also keen to see how it compared to other luxury calendars this year, such as the Liberty Beauty Advent Calendar (also tried and tested by the Yahoo UK team) which has a similar price point.

The 2024 Elemis offering is more expensive than the 2023 version, which cost £189, but has a higher material value, as last year it was worth £551. But, is the price increase justified?

As a globally recognized brand, Elemis has become popular with luxury skin care lovers thanks to its popular products such as the Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, Marine Cream Moisturiser, Superfood Facial Oil and Frangipani Monoi shower cream.

First off, there’s no denying the great value for money this calendar gets you. Behind one door is a full-sized tub of Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream (£95) – the skincare brand’s most popular moisturizer designed to smooth fine lines while plumping and hydrating your skin.

If that wasn’t enough, there’s even a chance to win an Elemis Golden Ticket worth £1,000 in 15 of this year’s beauty calendars.

  • 5 cleaners

  • 6 dampers

  • 2 exfoliants

  • 2 tons

  • 1 eye cream

  • 1 face oil

  • 1 eye mask

  • 1 bath milk

  • 1 shower cream

  • 1 oil company

  • 1 body cream

  • 1 serum

  • 1 head band

  • 1 cleaning cloth

There is a good variety across the products; there are six different skin and body care ranges, but if you’re already an Elemis fan like me, nothing brand new. Instead, Elemis leaned into their most popular products, which I imagine caters to existing customers instead of new ones.

⭐ My 5 Elemis Advent Calendar highlights ⭐

I’m already a fan of many of the Elemis products included, many of which come in handy little sizes, which will be great for travel. The minis are also a great opportunity to test out some of Elemis’ most popular products without getting a full version.

Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm | retails at £49 for 100ml

(Yahoo Life UK)(Yahoo Life UK)

This has long been my favorite luxury cleansing balm. (Yahoo Life UK)

Nothing removes make-up better than a cleansing balm, and Elemis is by far my favourite. It’s a butter-soft balm that when massaged onto dry skin, transforms into oil and melts away make-up in seconds.

Nourishing and soothing for all skin types, its formula is rich in fatty acids, lavender, chamomile and eucalyptus oil, which leaves your complexion clean, soft and soothed. It also smells like a luxury spa, thanks to the essential oil blend and is therefore instantly relaxing.

Frangipani Monoi Body Cream | retails at £30 for 200ml

I absolutely love this scented body cream. (Yahoo Life UK)

This is, without a doubt, the best smelling body cream I’ve ever used, infused with macadamia, sesame, Tahitian monoi and coprah oils. It’s rich but not overpowering, it stays on the skin for hours.

Although I would have loved a full size version of the calendar, the 50ml tube is perfect for travel. No matter how much time I have, I always put on a moisturizer after every shower.

Marine Pro-Collagen Cream | retails at £95 for 50ml

Undoubtedly, Elemis’ hero product is this moisturiser, which is the heart of the entire calendar, sitting behind draw number 25.

I love the texture most of all, as it strikes the perfect balance between a rich moisturizer that feels nourishing without any greasiness. Designed to combat fine lines, wrinkles and uneven texture, it is also fast absorbing. It also goes on very well under make-up, so you can use it as a day and night moisturiser.

It is also the highest value product in this calendar and is worth almost 50% of the total cost, so for just over £90 more, there are 24 more products to be released during December.

Superfood Face Oil | retails at £54 for 15ml

(Yahoo Life UK)(Yahoo Life UK)

This face oil gives your skin some extra TLC. (Yahoo Life UK)

When my skin is feeling dry, this is one of the first products I reach for in my evening skincare routine. It does not leave behind a greasy film on the skin, instead it feels light and soothing.

Although it would be nice to see the full size version of this (which is usually 15ml), I have to say, I never finished a face oil, because I use it very often on my combination skin, because that’s what i do. I think I will get a lot of use out of this mini bottle.

Superfood Glow Priming Moisturizer | retails at £46 for 60ml

(Yahoo Life UK)(Yahoo Life UK)

(Yahoo Life UK)

A glowy complexion is always my goal when I’m doing my make-up in the morning, and I find that this moisturizing primer helps to hydrate and smooth my skin, as well as being the quickest way to to prepare for a smooth smooth base. .

Don’t be put off by the peach toned cream, it blends seamlessly into the skin without leaving a tint behind and is incredibly fast absorbing. I love a multi-purpose product, so for me this ticks all the boxes.

🪫 My 3 points Skincare Ultimate 3 Elemis Advent Calendar 🪫

I’m always a bit disappointed that accessories are included in beauty advent calendars, such as the Elemis headband and cleansing cloth, as they often feel like filler products.

Luxury Cleaning Cloth | retail at £10 for two

At a price tag of nearly £200, I would have preferred to see more product instead, such as a larger shower gel or body cream, but some may appreciate the extra useful beauty routine.

A headband is in no way essential to my skincare routine, so I don’t think this is a useful item.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm | retails at £49 for 100ml

Don’t get me wrong, I love this cleansing balm, I only need three cleansing balms in one advent calendar. Inside is an original mini balm, the rose version, and a fragrance-free version.

It’s redundant, and I would have preferred one full-size version instead of three minis, but I think since this is a single branded calendar, Elemis is a bit more limited in its product selection compared to multi-retailer calendars like Liberty.

If you’re an Elemis fan and want to repurchase some of your favourites, such as the Pro-Collagen Marine Cream (normally £95), then the Elemis Advent Calendar could be great value for money .

However, I think Elemis missed a trick by including a lot of similar products and fewer full size products than I expected. So, you might be better off just buying the individual products you love (Elemis sells many of the small sizes in this calendar on their website anyway).

In my opinion you are better off buying a multi-brand calendar for variety and value for money. The Space NK Beauty Advent Calendar costs more this year at £250, but has £1,200 worth of content and contains 34 products, 23 of which are full size.

Meanwhile, the Liberty Beauty Advent Calendar costs £260, but contains an impressive 28 products, 18 of which are full size. The products inside are also from super luxury brands like Augustinus Bader, La Mer, Ren, Sunday Riley, Lisa Eldridge and more. You can read our full review here.
