Included in the Stella McCartney Fashion Herd were Natalie Portman, Haley Williams and Tiffany Haddish

Mother nature was on Stella McCartney’s side, as she braved the rain for her early morning show — they are playing on the same team after all.

The long-time animal rights activist’s exhibit was a tribute to birds, namely those killed for fashion, and the impact of climate change on species that are now in decline around the world.

The outdoor venue was filled with birdsong, and fellow animal rights activists Natalie Portman and Paris Jackson took to the front row, along with “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig and Jameela Jamil.

“I’ve just been thinking about the billions of birds that have been killed for the fashion industry,” she said backstage after the show. “To me they represent freedom, they represent purity and peace.”

Paramore’s Haley Williams was feeling free – partly because of her new status as an indie musician and partly because of her minimalist outfit.

She was clad in a bold mesh panty and bra set, covered only with a blazer jacket.

“I’m just comfortable. I’m a bit cold though, let’s be honest. Anything for Stella. She said, ‘Wear the undies.’ And I said, ‘Bitch, you got it,'” she joked.

Taylor Swift can take credit for their fast friendship. When Williams was due to sing for Swift’s tour stop at Wembley Stadium, Swift called McCartney’s personal phone number.

“I literally cold-called Stella, and he was like, ‘Please help me. I want to look good. I want to be proud of what I’m wearing when I’m standing next to my friend,’” she said.

Williams and the McCartneys also love music. “It felt like I’d known her for a long time, and this was still a new person [fashion] world, I just felt grateful. I felt like I was with my family,” she said.

Her group Paramore was released from their 20-year contract with Atlantic Records earlier this year, and Williams said they’re just having fun experimenting with new sounds right now. “This is our independent era,” she said, Swiftie-style.

Paris Jackson was sitting next to Williams, and the morning show was a chance to meet a musical influence.

“I’m such a fan. I’m really excited to be here right now,” Jackson said of introducing herself to Williams. They both performed at the Bonnaroo music festival last year, but Jackson said she was too shy to introduce herself to Williams there.

When asked if she would swap musical ideas with Williams, she demurred. “It will go one way rather than on an exchange. I’ll take as much as I can.”

For Jackson, the show was a return to a seated position after walking two runways earlier this week.

“It’s like being on stage, you know, going into a heart,” she said of her appearance on the scene.

Tom Daley is also diving into a new era, having formally retired after the Olympics in August.

He is working on his own fashion brand, Made with Love by Tom Daley, which is based on knitwear.

Daley revealed that he is enrolled in school to learn how to sew and hopes to learn more about the design side of the business with formal studies. “It’s amazing to be able to create something you picture in your head, and you can do it. He is such a great talent,” he said.

The Olympic medalist has been friends with McCartney since she designed the uniforms for the London games in 2012. “I miss the pool in some ways, but then I also feel I’m happy to be away from it,” he said. his new free time, most of which he spends with his children.

Tiffany Haddish was in a sparkly outfit for the morning show, giving guests and seatmates every opportunity. “It’s fun, it’s awesome,” she said of the look. “If I were to sing a song, this feels like it’s saying something. I love clothes that say something without having to say anything.”

This was the “Haunted Mansion” star’s first McCartney show and she is used to the designer.

“First of all, I know she loves horses. To me, her clothes are majestic, fun and playful – like horses,” she said.

Is Haddish a horse girl? “Hello, I am the last black unicorn. I am a horse’s cousin. I’m a Sagittarius. Do I like horses? I’m a full-blown bloodhound,” she joked, referring to the title of her best-selling memoir “The Last Black Unicorn.”

Model and activist Quannah Chasinghorse didn’t talk about horses, yet McCartney’s work praised it. She said she has started to see small changes in the fashion industry, especially in finding and recognizing more voices, but she still sees room for improvement.

“We are at a time when we cannot just sit and wait for it to happen. We have to take action,” she said. “I want to hear less greenwashing and more indigenous people … it’s really important that the people who are on the front line, that their voices are heard and seen and that they are raised. “

Guests were greeted with baseball caps on their seats reading “It’s About F-king Time,” and a newspaper that discussed the slogan with Ashley Graham, who also hosted the morning show.

In the paper, McCartney noted that 50 percent of bird species are in decline, and that the fashion industry harms and kills 3.4 billion birds for feathers. She had written a poem and a manifesto in the notes, and she urged guests with the slogan: “Save What You Love”.
