When Milan Fashion Week kicked off next Tuesday, there was already a lot to compete with. London Fashion Week was big this year, with the likes of Harry Styles and Emma Corrin fronting for SSDaley, and Declan Rice swapping football boots for a ribbon suit at Labrum, where he walked his first runway.
However, Milan kept up the excitement. Fendi kicked things off on Tuesday with an unsurprising opening line-up, including Jade Thirlwall, Raye, Zita d’Hauteville, Normani and Shailene Woodley. Then, at Marni, there were Maya Jama, Jack Harlow and rapper Future, all looking very cool and collected as Francesco Risso present some of which are giving his best collection in years.
We also had representatives from some of the world’s biggest celebrity dynasties on the FROW. We are talking Beckham, Gallagher, Skarsgård.
On Wednesday, David Beckham was front and center at BOSS, where he will soon be ready to help design multiple collections as part of a multi-year collaboration with the brand.
He wasn’t the only big name on the BOSS show, however, with Anna Wintour at his side and a roster of It Girls (Amelia Gray, Paloma Elsesser, Alex Consani) and athletes (Alica Schmidt, Miles Chamley-Watson) walking the runway.
Meanwhile, Gene Gallagher, son of Liam, was front row by Antonio Marras, and Bill Skarsgård was busy looking suave on the bright crimson H&M casual red carpet.
Later that day, Fausto Puglisi brought out the big guns at Roberto Cavalli, where he reunited with seven of the designer’s mules for the first runway show since his death. Karen Elson, Natasha Poly, Isabeli Fontana, Joan Smalls, Eva Herzigova and Alek Wek all took to the runway, along with Cavalli’s sister, Eva Cavalli.
Fittingly, as the supermodels reunited, another supermodel, Naomi Campbell, looked on from the front row.
Max Mara introduced on Thursday morning, and Uglies and The Kissing Booth actress Joey King was in attendance with her husband Steven Piet.
At Prada, where the design duo Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons caused a stir with buggie hats and cowls, cut-out skirts, it was Carey Mulligan who stole the spotlight, sitting alongside fellow actress Maya Hawke. US poet Amanda Gorman and Serbian performance artist Marina Abramović were also there.
Next up was another Milanese powerhouse, Gucci, which attracted an all-star cast for every generation. Daisy Edgar-Jones and Dakota Fanning sat with Debbie Harry nearby, while Bridgerton and Derry Girls’ Nicola Coughlan wore a suede cap for the occasion.
At Versace, Baby Reindeer’s Nava Mau debuted before all but Bottega Veneta. The seats set the internet ablaze – leather bean bags with animals specially chosen for each guest, so said the PR. Results: Julianne Moore on the otter, joined by Olympian Imane Khelif, Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, newly blonde Kendall Jenner, especially the smiling Jacob Elordi and — last but not least — the TikToker who started the trend very careful, very careful, Jools Lebron . In fact, it was close to cute for Milan Fashion Week.
