I will be living in the five Nobody’s Child dresses this summer

Known for its bold prints, sustainable ethos, and affordable price tags, Nobody’s Child is one of my favorite brands for affordable womenswear. Since its inception in 2015, it has become a popular and trusted choice for many and its popularity has made it the first ever guest brand to be stocked by Marks & Spencer. With a loyal following, the brand even has celebrity fans including Sienna Miller, Rochelle Humes and Fearne Cotton, who have collaborated with the brand on several collections.

I am one of their biggest fans, with a wardrobe full of Nobody’s Child dresses. I love the label for many reasons, but what appeals most to me is the price point and excellent fit. Unlike other high street brands such as French Connection and Reiss, which I wear from time to time, Nobody’s Child offers much more reasonable pricing, with options between £35 and £150. It provides that ‘safe’ factor that I value when I know a brand consistently delivers, and Nobody’s Child certainly always lives up to my expectations.

Firstly, I appreciate the exact size, which can be a huge challenge when shopping on the high street. While with other brands, I often fluctuate between sizes 8 and 12, with Nobody’s Child, I’m sure a size 10 fits well, and the waist and length measurements are a perfect match.

So that you can find the best personalized fit for you, Nobody’s Child also offers three different sections: a finely crafted petite range for those under 5ft 3, a maternity section, and an extended size selection that goes up to size 24. Who that I am 5ft 3 and usually shop around a bit if it’s available, the regular length often suits me too.

For me, the other big plus is that Nobody’s Child dresses are designed with flattering silhouettes in mind. I especially like their shirred effect dresses that flatter the waist and the way that is designed with fluid sleeves that help to hide my bingo wings.

The brand’s sustainability ethos also helps you feel like you’re shopping more responsibly, as it uses organic and recycled materials in its clothes. Furthermore, with the brand aiming to “introduce circular design principles into 75% of our range by 2025,” I appreciate its commitment to keeping up with the latest industry innovations. In fact, it’s rare to find a sustainable brand that offers fashionable clothes with affordable price tags (most of the dresses below are under £80).

With the warm weather and busy summer season upon us, I’ve picked five of my favorite dresses for every occasion. Whether you’re looking to dress for work, your summer vacation, a day at the races or a summer wedding, the options below have you covered.

I love shirred dresses because I think they’re super comfortable to wear, and as someone with a bit of a belly, they seem to pull me in in all the right places. Shirring works by gently stretching and gathering the fabric for a figure-flattering effect, and on this dress, it works beautifully. It turns a slightly plain dress into a statement piece, and I love the addition of a square ruffled neckline and cap sleeves to this khaki number.

Made from organic cotton, the fabric felt very comfortable to wear, and the scooped back helped me stay cool. Carefully designed, you can also wear a bra without showing the straps. The shirred waist flows into an A-line skirt, which is a great design feature as it emphasizes the waist area before flowing into a breezy skirt. This is the perfect dress to wear for a variety of summer occasions, I especially love wearing it with a pair of metallic sandals.

With a square ruffled neckline, floaty A-line skirt and delicate shirred details, this khaki dress ticks all the boxes.

This feminine number comes in a pink or floral print. (Yahoo Life UK)

Shop the Shop Floral dress in pink

This dress also comes in plain pastel pink, but I’ve always loved Nobody’s Child floral prints, and this one is no exception. The pretty print makes it a perfect summer work outfit, and the crepe weave fabric makes it light and lively. The yellow and orange flowers, along with the green leaves, create a gorgeous print that comes together in an eye-catching patchwork pattern.

As for the style of the dress, the sweetheart neckline is one that suits all shapes. I am a size 34C and found that a lot but the bust area was visible. The short puffed sleeves are elastic but don’t feel tight on the upper arm, and I love how the fabric falls, skimming over the lower half of the body.

The low back of the dress is a nice addition, and the fact that the zip is cleverly concealed means that the dress flows gracefully. I wore this dress with chunky heeled sandals and got lots of compliments, so it’s definitely a dress I’ll be wearing again this summer.

The square neckline and thick ruffle straps of this smock dress were really flattering. (Yahoo Life UK)

I fell in love with this dress, made of lightweight organic cotton, the moment I saw it online. There is something about this light white dress with yellow and green flowers that is so pretty. Although I’m not sure about showing my upper arms in public, the square neckline and thick ruffle straps of this smock dress was really flattering. Plus, the shirred bodice meant that my bra didn’t show underneath, which is very rare for a white dress.

This is the perfect summer dress to wear on holiday, and the color looks great on tanned skin. I wore it with sandals, but I think a pair of white plimsolls would look great too. And when it got a little chilly at night, I wore a dark blue denim jacket that brought the outfit together. I took this on an overnight trip last week, and the good news is that the cotton barely creased in my luggage, so you can just throw this on as an easy-to-wear piece. The dress comes in similar styles online in green and black, too.

Nobody’s Child

Made entirely from lightweight cotton voile, this feminine number features subtle yellow and green floral embroidery, a cut and tiered skirt in a shirred and tiered style and thick ruffle straps at the top.

Fearne Cotton’s latest collaboration with Nobody’s Child has so many great summer styles, but this organic cotton poplin dress is by far my favourite.

As for the length, I am 5ft 3, and it fell just after my ankles, so I would recommend wearing it with heels if you are petite. I wore it with silver wedges because I love the color combination. The halterneck easily ties into a nice bow at the top of the neckline, and let me reassure you, the material is strong enough to stay put all night. A strapless bra is required, and although much of the back area is on display, the top of my bra was still hidden.

I absolutely love halterneck dresses because I find them really flattering, and if you have long hair like me, I find a messy top or bottom is the best way to show off the neckline. Again, this dress has shirring detail at the top, and then the skirt flows out to create a flattering silhouette.

And the best part? It has pockets! I love a dress with pockets because it totally elevates the style. The dress also comes in white, which is a great option if you’ve paired an easy holiday dress with sandals or trainers.

Nobody’s Child

Made from organic cotton poplin in hot pink, this midaxi halterneck dress has subtle shirring details for a perfect fit, while the fluid skirt adds to the bright feel.

There are gorgeous puffy sleeves, a bow back detail, and a swishy A-line skirt. (Yahoo Life UK)

Shop in blue Shop in pink Shop in orange Shop in cream

Available in a similar style in pink, terracotta and cream (without the back ties), this dress is flying off the shelves and it’s easy to see why. It’s the perfect dress for a summer wedding or special occasion, as it ticks all the boxes in terms of style, fit and elegance. I chose the color of the sky blue to complement my eye color.

There is so much to love about this dress, but I’ll start with the back because it has such a wow factor. It has a square back where you tie the straps into a bow that hangs just above the zip line of the skirt. This creates a really beautiful silhouette for the back and, most importantly, hides the bra line.

The tie-back also means you can tighten the dress if you want to be pulled in at the waist more, or loosen it if you want to be more comfortable as the day goes on. Made from a responsive viscose blend with a linen touch, it’s a nice lightweight fabric. It gets so small though, so be aware that the skirt part of the dress may need a quick iron.

Although this dress is one of Nobody’s Child’s higher price points, coming in at £120, its high-quality and luxurious details such as the gorgeous puffy sleeves, bow back detail, and swishy A-skirt elevate It’s a flattering line and a chic masterpiece that made me feel absolutely gorgeous.
