She’s a successful actress, author and podcaster, but when Emily Ratajkowski first entered the public consciousness, she was known for her modeling – and enviable body.

Yoga is key

If you think Em Rata’s abs were made by sweating it out in the gym, then you would be wrong. In fact, the model, 32, requires a slower pace when it comes to fitness.

“I love being outside and doing yoga, so I do a lot of hiking in LA,” she said. In style. “I have a yoga studio near my house that I enjoy once a week.”

“I don’t have a trainer… I’m not a fitness freak. I’m definitely an outsider in the industry,” she said.

But a Zumba class keeps her strong from time to time

When Em graces the gym, she admits she struggles to motivate herself, so she prefers to go to a class.

She partnered with STRONG for Zumba, a high-intensity program focused on both cardio and strength training and a new take on the iconic ’90s dance classes (think leg warmers and spandex, guys).

“I’m also someone who, even in class, will get into conversations and [distracted]. I think that’s the great thing about STRONG – the music really keeps me focused when I’m in the zone,” she said. Mental and physical balancing

For Emily, life is all about finding that crucial balance, with working out helping the star break out.

“For me, the way I sleep afterwards is one of the main reasons for working out,” she said. In style. “I’m always on my phone at work and I think that affects my sleep. I am also very sensitive.

“When I’m working out, it’s better than taking melatonin. Because my body is working so hard, my brain is finally resting and I think that’s so valuable these days – not to sound like an old geezer, but I really do feel that way.”

What kind of diet does Emily Ratajkowski have?

Pastries for breakfast

She may be one of the top supermodels in the biz, but even Em Rata can’t resist the call of the morning pastry – a girl after our own hearts.

“I go to Blacktop Coffee every day and I get kouign-amann on this pastry with my black coffee,” she said Harper’s Bazaar USA.

What is kouign-aman, I hear you ask? Well, it’s a layered pastry with a caramelized outside, with plenty of butter and sugar. Think of it as the world’s lightest croissant.

Lighter lunches

Emily may treat herself to an unhappy brekkie, but she usually has a lighter lunch, especially when she’s on shoot.

“It’s usually a salad or a sandwich,” she said bazaar “If I’m on set, I’ll have catering, but I’m good with that stuff. It’s easy to go crazy – they know how to feed you.”

Dinner out

For Em, the evening meal is her social time.

“Dinner is my time to be social and catch up with people,” she explains to bazaar “I love this Italian restaurant called Bestia. It’s kind of fun, and they have good cocktails and wine.”

If she doesn’t want a carb-heavy meal, then Emily will go to the vegan restaurant Café Gratitude, or to the Japanese cuisine.

“This little place called Mako in Little Tokyo has great sushi. And I love the university too. Anything involving the university is great for me.”

She says if she’s cooking at home, she’ll go straight to a certain protein.

“I’m a carnivore,” she said Elle USA. “I love to eat meat. I love iron so I’m definitely not the type of person you’ll find eating salad. I like to keep really balanced to give my body energy and also to be healthy.

“I cook a lot, and that helps a lot: You know how much salt and sugar and all that kind of stuff you’re putting into your body.”

Cozy takeaway routes

Emily tries to balance her busy social life with days in to reset her head – with takeaway and TV to recover.

“Most of my life [physical and mental health] They were very disconnected, but now I check in with myself more,” she said In style. “Sometimes that means ordering a mountain of Thai food and staying at home and watching TV – and fitness can do that.

“I like to eat a meal in bed like, on a Thursday night or whatever rather than going out and being comfortable.”

She added: “I’m all about the balance of that stuff and I really believe, as good as this sounds, that mental and physical are really aligned, so taking care of yourself physically will help you mentally and vice versa.”

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Em also revealed that she keeps her fridge full of Indian and Thai food – which she prefers to eat ‘lying flat in bed’.

Sweet tooth

And Em really doesn’t deny herself a treat every now and then (and why should she?).

“I wouldn’t say I’m the type of girl who likes Doritos but I definitely love a good cupcake sometimes,” she said Elle. “I think it’s really important to give yourself a break.”

Lots of water

As with all glamorous Hollywood stars, it’s all about staying hydrated. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Em revealed that she ‘chugs water’ every night before going to bed, and settles down to share Game of thrones – relatable queen.

But she has some Hollywood hang-ups, and can’t deny herself a veggie juice with her meals.

“For me, it’s about feeling good about what you eat,” she told the New York Times. “I love turmeric and beetroot juices. It’s so LA, you can’t avoid it.”
