Brighton vs Arsenal – LIVE!

Arsenal could go on top later today if they can beat Brighton. The Gunners are locked in a great title race with Liverpool and Manchester City and I am much stronger this season, learning from the mistakes of last year’s campaign.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been in excellent form since the start of the year and are a cause for concern for any team. Loaded with goals and boasting one of the worst defenses around, the Gunners feel momentum.

However, it was Brighton who ended their title challenge last time out – albeit at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal made light work of Brighton there earlier this season and are strong favorites to exorcise those demons later today. Follow all the action LIVE with Standard Sport’s dedicated game blog! Simon Collings will be providing expert analysis from the ground!

De Zerbi full of praise for Arteta

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has reiterated his belief that Arsenal are the best team in the Premier League.

De Zerbi expressed his view that the Gunners are the top team in the division after beating Albion 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium in December.

When asked if he still has that attitude, the Italian replied: “Yes.

“Liverpool are another great team, different characteristics, different characteristics of the players, different style; City are close to Arsenal’s style.

“But I think when Arsenal play well, it’s very difficult for everyone.

“You can understand my words because Arsenal won 3-1 against Liverpool (in February), they won against City at home (in October), in the Champions League they are doing very well .”

It is a sign of how much Arsenal have grown this season that Oleksandr Zinchenko is back fit, but his place in the team is not guaranteed.

Such a situation would have been unthinkable last season, when it was hard to argue that a player was more important to the way Arsenal play than the Ukrainian.

Zinchenko changed the Gunners’ style, pressing in from left-back so they could dominate the midfield to devastating effect.

This season, however, the 27-year-old has had to contend with calf problems and, in his absence, Arsenal have excelled. More recently, Jakub Kiwior has impressed, while another option, Takehiro Tomiyasu, was awarded a new contract last month due to his fine form.

Zinchenko returned to the team in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Luton, making his first start since February. The win sent Arsenal back to the top of the table, before Liverpool leapfrogged them on Thursday night by beating Sheffield United, but Zinchenko is by no means certain of keeping his place for Saturday’s trip to Brighton.

Manchester City’s 4-2 win over Crystal Palace means Arsenal face the south coast side two points off the pace but the champions have this game in hand.

Win tonight and it’s back to the top for the Gunners… until Liverpool face Manchester United, of course.

Arsenal: Mikel Arteta gives a fresh verdict on the Premier League title race

14:59 , Jonathan Gorrie

Mikel Arteta believes Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are “likely” to end the title race by winning their remaining games.

The three are fighting in the Premier League and only three points separate leaders Liverpool and City in third place.

After Arsenal played City last weekend, none of the title contenders will face each other again in the last eight.

But despite that, Arteta does not believe that each of the three teams will finish the season with a perfect record over their remaining games.
