Net worth
Neville is well known in football circles for keeping himself extremely busy with all sorts of ventures since hanging up his boots. Neville’s football career for one of the biggest clubs in the world earned him huge sums of money, although there are many other ways in which he has accumulated his £70 million net worth.
Today, the successful businessman from Bury holds a majority stake in Salford City FC. He and other members of the famous class of ’92 bought the club back in 2014, with Neville overseeing their promotion to League Two. Away from football, he went into property development while still a player and now owns a chain of hotels and townhouses.
Its portfolio includes Hotel Football, which overlooks Old Trafford, and the Stock Exchange Hotel near Piccadilly Gardens. It is also involved in the St Michael’s Project, which aims to build high-end apartments, hotels, offices and restaurants in Manchester city centre.
In 2015, he founded Relentless, an investment company specializing in various ventures across the Manchester area. Not content with all the aforementioned roles, he also runs a property and construction consultancy firm called Zerum.

wife
Gary met his wife Emma Hadfield, from Middleton, Greater Manchester, in 2004 when she was still working as a shop assistant in Manchester. They married three years later in a spectacular ceremony.
The couple, parents to teenage daughters Molly and Sophie, lived in a large house on the outskirts of Bolton before relocating to Manchester city center four years ago. During their early relationship, Emma studied holistic therapy and is now a qualified counselor and accredited ‘Menopause Coach’.
At the end of last year, the philanthropist launched her new online support network where she educates women about menopause and gives advice on how to find it. In a candid post and video, the mother of two said she was diagnosed with menopause shortly after her most recent birthday – sending her on a course of education and self-discovery.
She now aims to share her wisdom with other women after qualifying as a consultant in 2019. Gary, who has been supporting her latest project, wrote: “So proud of my wife Emma for launching her new community for women .”
Teletubbies House
While some retired footballers might opt for a quiet life or a career in management, Neville had brighter visions. In 2010, he embarked on an ambitious project to build a futuristic, carbon-neutral mansion in the Bolton area of Greater Manchester, drawing comparisons to the house from children’s TV show Teletubbies.
Despite opposition from neighbours, Neville’s eco-dream was approved in 2012 after plans for a 130ft wind turbine were scrapped. However, the proposed dwelling, which was planned to be built into the ground and comprise two floors, did not come to fruition. After years of inactivity, Neville’s construction was discontinued in 2017.
Neville first put the land, which covers 8,000 sq ft and includes the eco-friendly designs, on the market in 2020 for £650,000. But he later reduced the asking price of the five-bedroom property to £500,000.
