Nicole Kidman has won an Oscar, two Primetime Emmy Awards, six Golden Globe Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a BAFTA, but she has no shoes.
“I would think I’m just starting, but that’s not true, hopefully I’m in the middle. I have my fingers crossed,” Kidman said as she accepted the 2024 AFI Lifetime Achievement Award at a star-studded gala on Saturday at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, where she was honored for her impact on the film industry.

His first role was at the age of 14 in the Australian film “Bush Christmas.”
Kidman described the acting profession as a “nomadic life” during her acceptance speech, emphasizing how some of the ephemeral relationships that come with the profession can be enduring. “Some people you meet become your friends, or allies or your biggest supporters or champions,” she said to a room full of colleagues, co-workers, partners and family. .
Tributes came during the night from former co-stars Reese Witherspoon, Zac Efron, Miles Teller, Zoe Saldana and Mike Myers – who appeared in a mask and dress a la “Eyes Wide Shut.”
Kidman was further praised by Naomi Watts, her long-time friend and fellow Aussie with whom she recalled sharing cabs on auditions; Morgan Freeman, who parodied Kidman’s viral AMC Theaters commercial on stage in front of a raucous crowd; and her husband Keith Urban, who sat alongside their daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. Meryl Streep, whom Kidman called a “guiding light”, presented her with the award.
More than 40 years later, with an Academy Award along the way for “The Hours,” Kidman remains an influence in the film industry and a topic of thought for the fashion community.
For her milestone moment, the AFI honoree chose Balenciaga for the ceremony look – a gold dress with a sparkling finish. Last year she was named the brand’s newest ambassador.
Omega found a gilded companion for the dress – a custom 26 mm De Ville Mini Trésor watch in its proprietary Moonshine Gold. She has been an ambassador for the watchmaker since 2005.
Speaking to WWD, Omega CEO and President Raynald Aeschlimann reflected on their longstanding relationship.
“As a brand like Omega, we are so universal, you will have a few people who are at a very high level of this type, an actor, who has won all the awards, but at the same time, close to the heart. of everyone because of the values,” he said, adding that his performances in “Moulin Rouge” and “Big Little Lies” are among his favorites. “And that’s why it’s always incredible to think that this is an achievement, an achievement of a lifetime, which not many get. And that is exactly the same reason why she is such a great inspiration to us all.”
Kidman (and George Clooney) have carte blanche access to the Omega archives, according to the brand. It’s a rare privilege for Omega’s line-up of icons across entertainment and sports.
“When we look for ambassadors, we look for people who are only there for a day, a year or two – the biggest of the biggest people who have a lot of character, determination and enthusiasm for their profession and give us a lot. . Because of this continuity in our values, it is very rare to find people like her or like George Clooney, who have been doing their work in an excellent way for so many years. And what we’re doing tonight is celebrating the excellence of our job. And that’s why we like to be associated with certain people like that because they are heroes.”
