In a heartbreaking turn of events, Roy Cropper collapses next week. This week, he tries to contact Nina through the cafe, but when Carla gets the call, she suddenly hangs up and runs out, reports the Mirror.

Roy is clearly having a hard time in prison, and once again, he catches a glimpse of Lauren approaching the cafe counter with Max. But what is the significance of this conversation, and what is he trying to remember?

Being interrupted leaves Roy frustrated and unable to continue his training. Bobby informs Carla that Roy must have kept quiet about the false statement to the police, while a worried Nina waits for Roy in the visiting room.

When he fails to appear, she informs the guard that she was expecting him and the officer enters Roy’s cell only to find him collapsed on the floor. He is immediately rushed to the hospital, clearly struggling with the ongoing situation.

Lauren’s update

Roy is convinced that there is something significant about a conversation between Max and Lauren that he needs to remember. As he lies in hospital, Mary visits him and encourages him to think about him in the hope that he will come back to her.

He remembers being in the cafe with Max and Lauren, overhearing their discussion about something important, but he can’t remember what it was. Could this be the key to Roy getting out of prison?

Nina reveals that the police intend to recreate Lauren’s last movements in the cafe. Amy suggests mentioning it on her radio show to increase awareness of the upcoming event.

Meanwhile, Roy contacts Dee-Dee from prison, suggesting that if they can find Lauren’s necklace, they could identify her secret boyfriend. Will they manage to find out who she was seeing, and therefore, who is responsible?

Paul will be in trouble next week when his father Denny shows up on the Cobbles. Paul takes part in a radio interview with Amy, discussing motor neurone disease and society’s disregard for disability. However, as he becomes passionate, he unintentionally uses profanity.

Later in the week, Paul, Billy and Gemma are delighted with the huge support they are giving their MND funders. Bernie is surprised when a man approaches her, having heard Paul on the radio and is unaware of his son’s condition.

She makes up a story that Paul has already died, but Denny is suspicious and accompanies her upstairs to find a shocked Gemma and Paul. When Denny comments on how good Paul is at looking for a deceased person, Bernie is left speechless.

Bernie is clearly hiding something and is afraid that Denny will reveal her past. Paul invites Denny to watch a movie at the apartment, and Billy reluctantly leaves them alone. Later, Denny steps out for ice cream, leaving Paul alone. He finds Gemma and pleads for a chance to meet her grandchildren, which upsets him.

Back at the apartment, Paul coughs and struggles to breathe. He calls an ambulance but drops the phone when he goes through. Denny returns to find Paul barely there, leaving him shocked. Will Paul pull through?

Meanwhile, Bernie’s secretive behavior continues as she nervously sifts through an old shoebox full of letters and photos, leaving Dev puzzled – what is she looking for and what is she keeping from her children?
