Taylor Swift is back in action on TikTok.

On April 11, TikTok users were happy to see the singer’s catalog return to the app, with songs from her latest album, midnightto her re-recorded albums, incl 1989 (Taylor Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version). Only the 2017 albums are not included Reputation and her first self-titled album from 2006, both eagerly awaiting re-recordings.

Since February 1, her songs, along with the work of many other chart-topping artists, have been missing from TikTok after Universal Music Group (UMG) and the app did not reach a licensing agreement. According to a statement released by the label, TikTok was unwilling to “reach anything close to a market rate deal” to fairly compensate artists and failed to “meantly address its obligations as a social platform ” on hot button issues like the rise of AI. The deal expired on January 31, prompting the removal of all UMG artist catalogs from the app the following day.

The statement said that UMG was living up to its “responsibility towards our artists to fight for a new agreement under which they are properly compensated for their work, on a platform that respects human creativity, in an environment that is safe for all, and which is effectively modified. .”
